Round 3! BAD ROMANCE BY LADY GAGA
Thank you, thank you, thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for getting us this far. We feel so loved from the outpour of support. Together, Camacho voters raised over $1,200 for the Shoals Dream Center - an organization that fed over 20,000 people in need just the last year alone.
We’ve made it to Round 3, and have one more round of voting before the live finale at the Vivian Theatre in Muscle Shoals!
But we aren’t there yet - you have until Friday to vote for us again at shoalscityshowdown.org.
Thank you so much again to everyone who voted for us in the last round, and everyone who has voted in Round 3 so far. It means the world to us.
We chose the pop classic "Bad Romance" from one of my personal all-time heroes, Lady Gaga. As a band, we've been shaped by our collective tastes spanning all genres, so it took diving deep into our hearts to choose what song would be best.
Gaga has inspired me throughout my life and I appreciate the road she's paved for modern music; The current pop culture landscape would be much more bland if she hadn't stepped in. When she did, every artist was forced to pay attention - not only for her brilliance, but she used her inspirations to revive abstract and glam art within pop and added a whole new dimension to artistry. She's the queen.
Our rendition of "Bad Romance" took form in our storage-unit-turned-practice-space. We put our hearts into this and tried to give back as much energy as Gaga has given us
SHOALS CITY SHOWDOWN ROUND 2 - Gotta Serve Somebody
Round 2 has begun. VOTE NOW FOR CAMACHO FOR SHOALS CITY SHOWDOWN HERE! https://www.shoalscityshowdown.org/vote#voting1
For round 2, we chose to cover ‘Gotta Serve Somebody’ from Dylan’s 1979 album Slow Train Coming for its message, history, and the love for the one and only Bob Dylan.
It was recorded at Muscle Shoals Sound, and I used to make the hour drive there from my hometown of Decatur just to imagine my hero Dylan walking in and out of that studio. As an artist, I draw a lot of inspiration from that record and the immeasurable greatness that came out of that building. In the era Dylan spent in Muscle Shoals, he was completely reenergized by new-found faith. The song has a simple message - in this life, no matter what you do or who you are: you answer to something greater than yourself. The way this message is painted through the song exemplifies what made his songwriting so influential, both lyrically and sonically.
To each individual that takes one minute just to vote for us: it truly means a lot to 5 guys doing their best to live their dreams and entertain you. Deadline is Friday Night so vote now!

We released a new single today. We recorded it earlier this year, but it's the first song I ever wrote. I was 13 Just by clicking on the song, trying or even finishing it, you support a group of guys that put their whole hearts in what they do. Don't think most people get how much that click means to artists like us. If you like it, share to a friend- and let us know what you think. We love it but would enjoy hearing thoughts. ‘AMERICAN IDIOT’ WITH CALHOUN + ATHENS THEATRE
We had the best time as the band for Calhoun and Athens State theatre’s production of ‘American Idiot’!
Joe Canada was honored to lead as Music Director of Calhoun Theatre Productions's American Idiot in July 2023. During this time, he directed the band during rehearsals and live performances, adapted musical scores to suit the talents of the ensemble, and delivered a powerful tribute to the rock giants. AC Seigler accompanied on electric lead guitar (his years of Green Day Rockband finally paying off), and Mac Macdonald played second guitar and acoustic - American Idiot was a welcome departure from his usual funk taste.
If you missed out, don’t worry - Joe will be musical director of the Evil Dead Musical with Calhoun and Athens State Theatre in November 2024.
